Visit with Lucas and South Street Seaport

Drove down from Hamden Saturday morning and visited with Lucas.  Becky was out of town visiting friends in Ohio, so we hung out with Lucas and housemate, Ben. Took the Long Island RR and subway in to the Hayden Planetarium.  I hadn’t been there since my high school senior class trip in 1960.  Fascinating depiction of  the relations in size of objects in our universe.  Then had a good time learning a new board game, Dominions.  Lost, of course.  Luke made some tasty omelets Easter morning.  We wanted to get home later Sunday night so left him in the early afternoon.  Lila wanted to visit South St Seaport where she had done volunteer work when she lived in NYC.  We had to make a turn a Ground Zero and I said a quick prayer for all those lost on 9/11.  Had dinner at a nice Irish pub at the seaport, took some pictures and enjoyed watching all the craft on the river.

Got home late after an uneventful drive.  Had a nice trip and enjoyed visiting with all.

Seder at Seth and Becky’s

April 2, 2010

We left Thursday and stopped in Hamden, CT.  Visited the Eli Whitney House museum in the morning.  Neat place.  It’s housed in the armory that Eli Whitney used to make muskets around 1800.  It was the first use of interchangeable parts in mass production.  Now it’s an education center.  There were kids there preparing for a Da Vinci machine competition.  One of them broke away and showed us what they were doing.

Then to Seth and Becky’s for Lila’s family gathering for a Passover Seder meal.  Had a great time with Seth’s parents and 2 kids, Emma and Levi.  Adam (Lila’s son) and Ann and their 2 kids, Sam and Abe rounded out the crowd.  What a great meal and they do a good job of including the kids in the readings and observation.  Finished off with birthday cake for Seth.  Hope to be invited again next year.
